The Last Great Challenge is about much more than John and Justin trekking to the South Pole -we want as many people as possible to get involved in one way or another.

Base Camp

Facebook.

We're on Facebook. We've got loads of Facebook friends and regularly post stuff on our wall like what we're doing, upcoming events, jokes, videos and music. Add us as a Facebook friend and enjoy the build-up to the expedition.  Look for us under 'Last Great Challenge'.

Twitter.

You can follow our regular updates on Twitter by finding us at Adventure_LGC.  The trouble is, with so much to say we REALLY struggle to stay within the 140 character limit.

YouTube

We have a YouTube channel which can be found on LastGreatChallenge. We've only just set this account up so there's not much to look at right now apart from Justin doing his ironing in some very odd places, but keep an eye on the site for new videos including training, training camps, talks, events and general fun stuff.

Look After Your Heart

When it comes to fighting heart disease, prevention is definitely better than cure. Even small changes to your lifestyle can make a massive difference and reduce your chances of developing heart disease.

We are fully committed to encouraging people to look after their hearts by getting active and adopting a healthy lifestyle. For information on how to reduce your risk of heart disease take the time to browse around the British Heart Foundation website at http://www.bhf.org.uk/default.aspx

If you're really committed then you could join in with some of the BHF sponsored activities; you can look after your cardiac health and raise vital funds for the Heart Foundation at the same time.  Keep a look out on our site for more details on this.

Training Camps.

As part of our training, we often head off into the wilds around the UK for weekend training camps, some of which we invite people to join us on. Our camps usually involve nights under canvas. As well as plenty of hiking, camp members get the chance to experience and learn about other aspects of the expedition training such as equipment, navigation, nutrition, physical and psychological preparation and maybe even a few workouts!

Talks.

We give talks, based on the expedition,  around the UK; what we're doing, why we're doing it, the preparation involved, what we can expect when we're actually on the ice and what we're going to do when we get back. Talk venues and dates that are open to anyone are published on the calendar page, or email us for details or to discuss the possibility of us coming to talk to you.
